Job details:  Occupational Therapist required for 4 weeks to cover vacancy in 42-bed rehabilitation ward. The ward comprises of patients requiring ongoing assessment and therapy intervention, including facilitation and planning of discharge.
Patients are predominantly over the age of 65, although there are also have some younger patients with ongoing rehab needs
Patients on the ward may be admitted for a variety of medical reasons, including frailty, falls, trauma, neurological conditions, and a variety of other conditions. Patients often present with multiple comorbidities, and there is the opportunity to work with patients with both physical and cognitive deficits.
The Occupational Therapist role is to undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, using a variety of different techniques including standardised and non-standardised assessments, to make an accurate assessment of client need. This includes functional and cognitive assessments, as well as discharge planning – there may be potential for joint access visits into patients homes, if required.
The role involves working directly with MDT members on the ward, and will include delegation of tasks to rehabilitation assistants. 
The post holder will be supported by a highly experienced OT Lead
Skills/experience: Experience/ currently trained and competent with iclip notes system is strongly desirable, given short nature of the locum cover.
Working hours: Monday to Friday. Shifts, 08.30 – 16.30, with 30 mins lunch – 7.5 hours work per shift. Cover is required for 15 shifts, in a pattern of either;

  • 5 weeks – 3 shifts per week – 3 consecutive days strongly preferred
  • 4 weeks – 4 shifts per week x 3 weeks, 3 shifts x 1 week
