Occupational Therapist – Band 6

 

Brief Job Overview

 

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum role within North West London NHS. This position is based within mental health services, supporting service users with complex, severe, and enduring mental health needs through evidence-based and recovery-focused occupational therapy interventions.

 

The Occupational Therapist will manage a complex caseload, delivering assessments and interventions that promote recovery, independence, and improved quality of life. The role also includes supporting junior and unqualified staff through supervision and leadership within the multidisciplinary team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a caseload of service users with complex and enduring mental health needs.
  • Undertake occupational therapy assessments, treatment planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and recovery-focused principles to support meaningful outcomes.
  • Support service users to improve quality of life and participation in meaningful activities.
  • Assess the impact of mental and physical health conditions on daily functioning.
  • Provide advice regarding lifestyle changes, environmental adaptations, and equipment provision.
  • Recommend aids, adaptations, and strategies to support independence and wellbeing.
  • Provide supervision and leadership support to junior and unqualified staff.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and wider mental health services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS and HCPC standards.

 

About You

 

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with strong knowledge of 
mental health occupational therapy practice. You will demonstrate excellent clinical 
reasoning skills and the ability to manage complex caseloads within recovery-focused services.

 

You will be confident working autonomously while also supporting junior colleagues and contributing positively 
to multidisciplinary team working and service delivery.

 

Requirements

 

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working within mental health occupational therapy services.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based and recovery-focused approaches.
  • Experience managing complex mental health caseloads.
  • Experience supervising or supporting junior staff desirable.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Contract Length: 6 weeks initially
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary: Negotiable
