Job Title:  Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 7 (will consider very experienced Band 6)   
Area: Northern Scotland NHS

Job details:  Paediatric Advanced Occupational Therapist required to start asap for 3 months. Community based, schools, independent living centre, people’s homes. JD available on request:

  • To be responsible for provision of routine and specialist assessment, treatment and management of babies/children/adolescents within their family, educational and social context, who present with a wide variety of conditions.  These include chronic, complex, disabling and life limiting conditions across traditional physical and social care boundaries. Occupational therapy will be delivered in the most appropriate setting for babies/children/adolescents and carers.
  • To provide a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills and experience in the occupational therapy management of paediatric neurological, developmental and neurodevelopmental conditions for babies, children, and adolescents
  • To lead and case manage complex paediatric cases within the context of a multi-disciplinary team setting, as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To assess for and facilitate the provision of equipment and housing adaptations for children and adolescents with complex needs
  • To train, supervise and support registered and unregistered occupational therapy staff in the delivery of occupational therapy services
  • To educate and train other healthcare professionals (registered and unregistered), multi-agency professionals, therapy students, parents/relatives/carers in occupational therapy skills and techniques.
  • Define, lead and develop the children’s occupational therapy service through a range of initiatives including involvement in clinical audit and planning, establishing and piloting new initiatives, focusing on outcome measures, the effective use of resources, and the use of information technology for the improvement of client care.
  • Contribute to and engage with the senior occupational therapy team across the integrated service providing support and knowledge to the wider team.
