Physiotherapist – Band 6 (Locum)
Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist to join Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, working across the Michael Carlisle Centre and Grenoside Grange Hospital within the South Yorkshire NHS. This locum role focuses on providing inpatient physiotherapy to older adults, with a particular emphasis on mental health rehabilitation. You will support patients with a wide range of physical and functional needs, helping them maximise independence and recovery in a therapeutic inpatient environment.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment for inpatients, focusing on older adults and individuals with mental health conditions.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions to support mobility, strength, balance, and functional ability within an inpatient setting.
- Work across two hospital sites, adapting to the clinical needs and priorities of each service.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to support holistic care planning and coordinated rehabilitation.
- Apply strong clinical reasoning to manage a varied caseload safely and effectively.
- Record assessments, interventions, and outcomes in line with NHS and HCPC standards.
- Contribute to discharge planning and onward referrals as required.
About You
You are a compassionate and adaptable Physiotherapist with experience in older adult rehabilitation and mental health inpatient services. You have strong clinical assessment skills and the confidence to work independently across multiple sites. Experience in orthopaedics is advantageous but not essential. Your collaborative approach and commitment to patient-centred care will help support positive outcomes for service users.
Requirement

- Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience in inpatient physiotherapy, particularly with older adults.
- Experience working within mental health settings is highly desirable.
- Orthopaedics experience is an advantage.
- Strong communication, documentation, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload across two clinical sites.
- Confidence working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
