About the Role
Cornwall Council is seeking an experienced Community Occupational Therapist to join their county-wide service. This role involves working autonomously within a complex and challenging community environment, supporting adults with disabilities to maximise their independence and reduce reliance on packages of care. The position requires regular face-to-face visits and the ability to travel across the county.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse caseload of adults living in the community, using a client-centred approach to develop holistic, practical solutions to daily living challenges.
- Advise, assess, plan, deliver and evaluate services that promote independence, safety and wellbeing.
- Provide day-to-day oversight, direction and support to colleagues to facilitate multidisciplinary problem-solving.
- Support the identification, planning and implementation of service development initiatives within the community.
- Work collaboratively with health, social care, voluntary sector and local authority partners to coordinate effective support and interventions.
- Maintain high professional standards in line with the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and organisational policies.
- Undertake essential face-to-face visits and manage clinical priorities across a wide geographical area.
Requirements
- HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
- Experience in community settings, ideally within Adult Social Care.
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously within a dispersed county-wide team.
- Excellent communication and collaborative working skills.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and reducing dependency on formal care packages.
