Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 7

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 7 Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a locum role within
South West London NHS. This position supports children and young people with special educational needs,
providing specialist occupational therapy input as part of the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.

The Occupational Therapist will assess children’s functional needs and provide recommendations that contribute to their
EHCP applications. Working closely with Local Authority case coordinators, schools, parents, and multidisciplinary teams,
the role focuses on ensuring children receive appropriate support within educational settings. The post holder will also
contribute to complex case management, provide professional advice to education staff and families, and support tribunal
and mediation processes where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments for children applying for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Provide recommendations and clinical input that inform EHCP documentation and planning.
  • Autonomously manage a caseload of children with special educational needs.
  • Work closely with Local Authority case coordinators and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide advice and guidance to teaching professionals, parents, and carers regarding children’s functional needs.
  • Contribute specialist occupational therapy expertise in tribunal hearings where required.
  • Support mediation processes by working alongside Local Authority tribunal managers.
  • Provide clinical supervision to junior members of the occupational therapy team.

About You

You will be an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a strong understanding of supporting
children with special educational needs within education and healthcare environments. You will be confident managing a
clinical caseload independently and providing specialist advice to schools, families, and partner agencies.

The role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with multidisciplinary teams,
education professionals, and local authority services to ensure children receive appropriate support through the EHCP process.

Requirements

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working within NHS paediatric services.
  • Experience supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload autonomously.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to junior staff.
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills.

Contract & Salary

  • Role: Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 7
  • Sector: South West London NHS
  • Contract Type: Locum
  • Contract Length: Ongoing (until June 2026)
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
