Brief Job Overview

An experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist is required to join a fast-paced acute medical unit at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. This role involves delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning within a busy acute hospital environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident clinician with strong acute NHS experience who can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while managing a varied inpatient caseload.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention for patients on an acute medical unit.
  • Support safe and timely discharge planning.
  • Identify risks and implement appropriate management strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
  • Prioritise and manage workload effectively within a fast-paced clinical setting.

 

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration (essential).
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.
  • Recent acute NHS hospital experience.
  • Experience working within acute medical wards.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills.

 

Working Pattern

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Standard hours: 08:00 – 16:00
  • Longer day patterns may be considered:
     

    •    
    • 4 longer days per week
         

    • 3 extended shifts per week
