Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum role within East Midlands Social Services. The role focuses on supporting adults and children with disabilities by delivering occupational therapy assessments and interventions that enable individuals to remain safely in their own homes and maintain independence in daily activities.
Working within social care services, the Occupational Therapist will assess functional needs, recommend equipment and adaptations, and support individuals and their carers through person-centred planning. The role involves working collaboratively with health and social care professionals to ensure coordinated support, particularly in situations involving complex moving and handling needs or major adaptations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments for adults and children with disabilities.
- Recommend and arrange equipment and adaptations, including major adaptations where required.
- Undertake risk assessments relating to complex moving and handling situations and develop management plans.
- Support individuals and carers to participate in assessments and the development of support plans.
- Identify solutions such as assistive technologies and demonstrate safe use where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records and review support plans to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
- Update systems and contribute to the collection of service data to support delivery and monitoring.
- Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants and provide professional guidance to Social Workers.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care and effective transitions between services.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience working within adult health or social care environments. You will be confident undertaking holistic occupational therapy assessments, evaluating risk, and planning interventions that support independence and safety for individuals within their homes.
You will demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills, enabling you to manage your own workload while working effectively with partner agencies and multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience working within adult social care or adult health environments.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Understanding of the Care Act 2014 and wider health and social care policy.
- Ability to undertake holistic therapy assessments and assess risk.
- Experience recommending equipment, adaptations, and reablement interventions.
- Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills.

- Working Pattern: Hybrid working with expectation to attend the office approximately 2 days per week
- Additional Attendance: May be required for urgent moving and handling cases or visits
- Salary: £22.25 per hour (Limited/Umbrella)
