About the Role
Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Urgent Response OT Team within the London Borough of Barnet.
This is a fast-paced and varied role focused on providing timely Occupational Therapy intervention to residents who require urgent support. The post will involve predominantly completing moving and handling assessments, alongside responding to residents who require immediate Occupational Therapy input.
The successful Occupational Therapist will work across the whole borough and will participate in the team’s duty rota, undertaking one duty OT day per week. This is an excellent opportunity for an OT who enjoys working in a responsive service and is confident making timely clinical decisions in complex situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide urgent Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to residents across the borough.
- Complete predominantly moving and handling assessments in residents’ homes and other relevant settings.
- Respond promptly to referrals requiring immediate Occupational Therapy intervention.
- Identify functional needs and provide appropriate recommendations to promote safety and independence.
- Participate in the team duty rota, undertaking one duty OT day per week.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
- Provide appropriate advice and recommendations regarding moving and handling, equipment and support needs.
- Manage a busy caseload and prioritise urgent referrals effectively.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with professional and service standards.
- Work flexibly across the borough according to service requirements.
About You
We are looking for a confident and adaptable Occupational Therapist who can work effectively within a fast-paced urgent response environment.
You will be comfortable completing moving and handling assessments, responding to urgent referrals and making appropriate recommendations to support residents’ safety, independence and immediate needs.
Due to the geographical nature of the role and the requirement to respond to urgent visits across the whole borough, candidates should ideally live within or close to Barnet.
Requirements
- Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working as an Occupational Therapist within adult social care or a similar community-based service.
- Experience of moving and handling assessments.
- Ability to respond effectively to urgent Occupational Therapy referrals.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a wider team.
- Willingness to participate in a weekly duty OT rota.
- Ability to travel across the London Borough of Barnet for assessments and visits.
Working Arrangements
This is a full-time hybrid role. Team members are required to attend the office one day per week, with the remainder of the role involving community-based work and visits across the borough.
Working hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 09:00–17:15
- Friday: 09:00–17:00
Reduced or condensed hours cannot be considered for this position.
