Assistant Occupational Therapist

Tripod Partners are recruiting an Assistant Occupational Therapist for a locum role within North London Social Services. This position supports the Reablement Service, helping adults regain independence and confidence in daily living following illness, injury, or changes in circumstances.

The Assistant Occupational Therapist will support occupational therapy assessments, reablement plans, equipment provision, and minor adaptations, working closely with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary professionals to promote safe and independent living within the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess service users’ disability-related needs within their home environment.
• Provide information, advice, and support to promote independent living.
• Support individuals following illness, injury, or hospital discharge using a goal-focused reablement approach.
• Assist with occupational therapy assessments and intervention planning.
• Recommend adaptive equipment and minor home adaptations in conjunction with a qualified Occupational Therapy Manager.
• Review equipment and adaptations to ensure they meet assessed needs.
• Maintain accurate client records and update social care database systems.
• Provide high-quality support to empower service users to achieve agreed outcomes.
• Work collaboratively as part of the wider reablement and social care team.
• Contribute to the smooth running of the service in line with local policies and procedures.

About You

You will have experience supporting individuals within 
health, social care, reablement, or community services. You will demonstrate strong 
communication and organisational skills, alongside a person-centred approach to supporting independence and wellbeing.

You will be confident working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and supporting service users 
to achieve rehabilitation and reablement goals.

Requirements

• Experience working within health, social care, or reablement services.
• Knowledge of reablement and strengths-based approaches.
• Experience supporting equipment provision and minor adaptations desirable.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and use social care database systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively within community settings.
