Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 7 to join Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust at Wood End Clinic, Hayes. This is an ongoing locum opportunity within the West London NHS area.

The successful Paediatric Occupational Therapist will provide a highly specialist Occupational Therapy service to children and young people with identified Occupational Therapy needs. The role includes specialist assessment, diagnosis and therapy, with involvement across early years and school settings.

The post will involve working closely with schools and education professionals, including attending Link Planning meetings with School SENCOs, delivering EHCP contacts and completing annual review reports. There is no service development work required as part of this placement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a highly specialist Occupational Therapy service to children and young people with Occupational Therapy needs.
• Complete highly specialist assessments and contribute to diagnosis and clinical decision-making.
• Develop and deliver appropriate therapy packages based on individual children’s needs.
• Work across early years and school settings as required.
• Attend Link Planning meetings with School SENCOs.
• Deliver EHCP-related contacts and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan processes.
• Write clear and comprehensive annual review reports.
• Provide training, advice and support to school staff, parents and other professionals to help identify children’s needs and implement Occupational Therapy recommendations effectively.
• Prioritise the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people at all times.
• Support the service to monitor and achieve Key Performance Indicators and target activity levels.
• Demonstrate the impact and effectiveness of Occupational Therapy interventions through quality and outcome measures.
• Contribute to quality governance, audits and projects within the team or service.
• Support the performance management of identified team members.
• Support the Team Leader with the leadership and development of the service.
• Deputise for the Team Leader in the day-to-day management of the team during periods of absence.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Band 7 Paediatric Occupational Therapist with relevant NHS experience in the UK and a strong understanding of paediatric Occupational Therapy practice.

You will be confident undertaking highly specialist assessments and developing appropriate therapy programmes for children and young people. Experience working with early years, schools, SENCOs and EHCP processes will be particularly relevant to this role.

You should have excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, education professionals and wider multidisciplinary teams. As a Band 7 practitioner, you will also be expected to contribute to clinical leadership, quality governance and team management responsibilities.

Requirements

• Relevant UK NHS experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist.
• Relevant professional qualification and registration as an Occupational Therapist.
• Experience providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to children and young people.
• Experience working within paediatric, early years and/or school environments.
• Experience working with School SENCOs and education professionals.
• Experience with EHCP contacts and annual review reporting is required.
• Safeguarding training to Level 3 for both children and adults.
• Current Basic Life Support training.
• Current Moving and Handling training.
• Ability to work at Band 7 level, including supporting clinical leadership and team development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children, parents, schools and multidisciplinary professionals.
