This position focuses on supporting children and young people with complex needs by providing occupational therapy assessments, advice, and equipment recommendations that promote independence, safety, and participation in daily life.

Working within children’s social care services, the Occupational Therapist will complete assessments within the home environment, recommending equipment and adaptations that support children and their families. • Provide advice, guidance, and signposting to families and carers regarding available support services.
  • Work collaboratively with partner organisations including NHS services, local authorities, schools, and Child Development Centres.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to ongoing care planning and reviews.

About You

You will be a qualified Paediatric Occupational Therapist with experience supporting children with additional needs within social care or community services. You will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning skills and confidence assessing complex equipment needs and home adaptations.

You will be comfortable carrying out assessments in home environments and working collaboratively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to identify practical solutions that support children’s independence and wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working as a children’s Occupational Therapist.
  • Strong understanding of complex equipment provision and minor and major adaptations, including Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).
  • Experience completing manual handling and risk assessments.
