Occupational Therapy Team Manager – Children with Disabilities Team

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced and dynamic Occupational Therapy Team Manager for an exciting interim opportunity within North West Social Services. Based at Number One Riverside, Rochdale, this role will lead the Children with Disabilities (CWD) Occupational Therapy Team, overseeing the delivery of high-quality occupational therapy services for children and young people with additional and complex needs.

This is a key leadership position responsible for providing both operational and professional management to a dedicated Occupational Therapy team. The successful candidate will drive service quality, support staff development, ensure effective partnership working, and contribute to positive outcomes that promote independence, safety, participation, and inclusion for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and professional leadership to the Children with Disabilities Occupational Therapy Team.
  • Manage team performance, supervision, appraisal, workforce development, and service delivery.
  • Oversee the provision of high-quality occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and case management.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the Occupational Therapy service.
  • Ensure effective multi-agency collaboration with health professionals, education services, and wider SEND partners.
  • Monitor and manage complex risk assessments, including moving and handling, equipment provision, and safety adaptations.
  • Provide expert guidance and support on complex cases and professional practice issues.
  • Contribute to statutory processes and wider Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Promote a culture of person-centred practice, continuous improvement, and positive outcomes.
  • Support service planning, quality assurance, and performance monitoring activities.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with proven leadership and management experience within children’s services. You will possess strong knowledge of SEND, children with disabilities services, and occupational therapy practice, alongside the ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.

You will be an excellent communicator with strong partnership-working skills, capable of building positive relationships across health, education, social care, and wider stakeholder networks while maintaining a clear focus on quality and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Significant post-qualification Occupational Therapy experience.
  • Previous leadership or management experience within Occupational Therapy services.
  • Strong knowledge of Children with Disabilities and SEND services.
  • Experience supervising, supporting, and developing staff teams.
  • Knowledge of moving and handling, specialist equipment, and adaptation processes.
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and statutory responsibilities relating to children and young people.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and service development skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within a busy service environment.
