Rehabilitation Officer – Enfield Council, North London
Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Rehabilitation Officer to join Enfield Council’s Sensory Impairment Service in North London. This locum role focuses on supporting individuals with visual impairments and dual sensory loss, helping them achieve independence, confidence, and improved quality of life.
You will work as part of a committed and inclusive team providing rehabilitation programmes that promote mobility, daily living skills, and communication techniques. The role also offers the opportunity to develop expertise in services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people, as well as opportunities for ongoing professional growth through multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver rehabilitation programmes for adults with visual impairments and dual sensory loss, focusing on mobility, communication, and daily living skills.
- Provide orientation and mobility training to help individuals navigate safely and independently in their communities.
- Teach practical independent living and communication skills that enhance confidence, dignity, and choice.
- Work collaboratively with professionals across health and social care to provide a holistic and coordinated service.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of sensory impairment services through team participation and joint working.
- Develop your professional knowledge in supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals within an inclusive service framework.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with Council policy and professional standards.
About You
You are a compassionate and motivated Rehabilitation Officer with the ability to support individuals with sensory impairments to live fulfilling and independent lives. You bring strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and professional integrity, and you are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation support.
Requirements
- Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with people with visual impairments and/or dual sensory loss.
- Knowledge of sensory impairment rehabilitation techniques and assistive technology.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, and continuous professional development.
Contract & Salary
- Position: Locum Rehabilitation Officer
- Location: Enfield Council, North London
- Area: North London Social Services
- Pay rate: £26.38 per hour
- Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:30)
- Contract length: Ongoing
