Occupational Therapist
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum role within Cambridgeshire Social Services. This position focuses on delivering a specialist community occupational therapy service to individuals of all ages with complex health, social, psychological, and housing needs.
The Occupational Therapist will independently manage a caseload, carrying out assessments, developing intervention plans, and supporting individuals to maximise independence within their home environments. The role involves applying advanced clinical reasoning and working across health, housing, and social care systems to provide effective and practical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments for individuals with complex needs.
- Independently manage a defined caseload, progressing interventions through to completion and review.
- Assess the interaction between health, housing, and social factors to inform intervention planning.
- Recommend and arrange provision of standard and specialist equipment, including Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).
- Interpret technical plans and provide advice on housing adaptations and design.
- Undertake complex moving and handling assessments and provide best practice guidance.
- Provide advice, support, and training to individuals, families, and carers.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies across health, housing, and social care.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience working within community or social care services, supporting individuals with complex needs. You will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to manage a caseload autonomously.
You will be confident working across housing and social care systems, including advising on adaptations and equipment provision, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support effective outcomes for individuals.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience working within community or social care occupational therapy services.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act and housing legislation.
- Experience with equipment provision, adaptations, and Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).
- Experience undertaking moving and handling assessments.
- Ability to manage a caseload independently.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
