Occupational Therapist (Locum)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Nottingham City Council within East Midlands Social Services. This locum role sits within a transformation-focused Adult Social Care service, supporting service redesign through strengths-based occupational therapy practice. The post focuses on promoting independence, improving outcomes, and reviewing care arrangements to ensure they remain proportionate, effective, and person-centred.

 

Key Responsibilities

  •  
    • Undertake occupational therapy assessments within Adult Social Care as part of a transformation programme.
       

    • Assess and prescribe moving and handling equipment to support safe care delivery.
       

    • Complete assessments for single-handed care and review existing care arrangements.
       

    • Review, reduce, and optimise packages of care where appropriate, promoting independence and strengths-based outcomes.
       

    • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
       

    • Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with local authority and professional standards.
       

    • Contribute to service improvement and transformation objectives through professional practice.

     

    About You

    You are a proactive Occupational Therapist with experience in Adult Social Care and a strong understanding of moving and handling practice. You bring confident assessment skills, sound clinical reasoning, and a solution-focused approach to reviewing care needs. You are comfortable working within change and transformation environments and are committed to delivering proportionate, person-centred interventions.

     

    Requirements  

      • Degree or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
         

      • Current HCPC registration.
         

      • Experience working within Adult Social Care.
         

      • Experience assessing and prescribing moving and handling equipment.
         

      • Experience completing single-handed care assessments.
         

      • Experience reviewing and reducing packages of care.
         

      • Desirable: experience using Liquidlogic.
