Job Details
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist to join its Therapies Medicine service at Aintree Hospital.
The successful candidate will work within an acute setting on a Medicine Escalation Ward, providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and intervention to support patients with a range of medical needs.
The role will involve physiotherapy assessment, chest physiotherapy, equipment provision and discharge planning, with active participation in daily multidisciplinary board rounds.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments within an acute medical environment.

Provide appropriate evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to support patients’ mobility, function and recovery.

Carry out chest physiotherapy assessments and interventions as clinically required.

Assess for and arrange appropriate equipment to support patient safety, mobility and independence.

Contribute to safe and effective discharge planning, working closely with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.

Attend daily board rounds and provide specialist physiotherapy input regarding patient management and discharge.

Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment plans in response to changing clinical needs.

Identify and manage clinical risks appropriately.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional and NHS standards.

Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Essential Skills & Experience
-
Degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy.
-
Current HCPC registration.
-
Previous experience working within an acute hospital setting.
-
Experience within acute medicine is highly desirable.
-
Confident carrying out physiotherapy assessments and interventions.
-
Experience with chest physiotherapy.
-
Experience assessing and providing appropriate equipment.
-
Strong understanding of discharge planning and multidisciplinary working.
-
Excellent clinical reasoning, communication and organisational skills.
-
Ability to manage and prioritise a busy caseload within an acute environment.
