Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for a motivated and experienced Assessment and Enablement Officer to join Adult Social Care at the London Borough of Barnet. This locum opportunity is ideal for a professional with strong experience in adult social care reviews who is passionate about promoting independence, wellbeing, choice and positive long-term outcomes.

Working as part of the Adult Social Care service, you will undertake strengths-based reviews with adults including people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities and older adults. You will review existing care and support arrangements, identify changing needs and make evidence-based recommendations to ensure people receive the right level of support to live fulfilling and connected lives within their communities.

The role offers hybrid working, with two days office-based and three days working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake strengths-based reviews of care and support arrangements across a range of Adult Social Care services.
• Review care and support packages to ensure eligible needs are being met and intended outcomes are being achieved.
• Assess changes in an individual’s needs, circumstances, risks, strengths and wellbeing through proportionate and person-centred reviews.
• Promote strengths-based practice, enabling individuals to maximise their strengths, maintain independence and achieve outcomes that matter to them.
• Review support arrangements across home care, supported living, day opportunities, direct payments, residential care and community-based services.
• Work collaboratively with residents, families, carers, advocates, providers, health partners and Adult Social Care colleagues to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
• Apply the principles of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Making Safeguarding Personal throughout assessments and reviews.
• Constructively challenge existing support arrangements where outcomes are not being achieved or alternative approaches may better meet an individual’s needs and aspirations.
• Balance individual wellbeing and outcomes with the effective and proportionate use of resources.
• Produce clear, accurate and evidence-based review documentation, assessments and recommendations.
• Identify themes, emerging trends and opportunities for service improvement to support quality assurance, commissioning and best practice across Adult Social Care.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Adult Social Care professional who has a strong understanding of strengths-based practice and is confident undertaking reviews of care and support arrangements. You will have experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities and older adults across a range of service settings.

You will demonstrate sound professional judgement, strong analytical skills and the ability to make clear, evidence-based recommendations. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, alongside the confidence to constructively challenge where existing support arrangements may no longer be appropriate.

You will be committed to promoting independence, wellbeing, choice and control, while ensuring support remains person-centred, outcome-focused and proportionate.

Requirements

• Significant experience working with adults within Adult Social Care.
• Experience working with adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs and physical disabilities.
• Experience reviewing adult social care packages and support arrangements.
• Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, safeguarding and strengths-based practice.
• Experience working across supported living, home care, residential care and community-based services.
• Ability to undertake robust assessments, reviews, risk assessments and support planning.
• Sound professional judgement and confidence making evidence-based recommendations.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to challenge constructively and professionally where support arrangements may no longer be appropriate.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a large and varied workload.
• A clear commitment to promoting independence, wellbeing, choice and control for residents.
