Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer for a locum opportunity within North London Social Services. Based with Enfield Council, this role offers the opportunity to support adults with visual impairments to live independently, safely, and confidently within their homes and communities through specialist rehabilitation interventions.

Working as part of Adult Social Care, you will deliver person-centred rehabilitation services that promote independence, mobility, and wellbeing. You will work closely with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary professionals to identify needs, develop tailored rehabilitation plans, and provide practical solutions that enable individuals to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake specialist assessments for adults with visual impairments to identify rehabilitation and independent living needs.
  • Develop and implement person-centred rehabilitation programmes that promote independence and confidence.
  • Provide mobility, orientation, and daily living skills training to individuals with sight loss.
  • Assess for and recommend specialist equipment, low vision aids, and assistive technology.
  • Provide practical advice and support to service users, families, carers, and partner organisations.
  • Complete risk assessments and develop strategies to support safe and independent living.
  • Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, health professionals, and voluntary organisations.
  • Promote community engagement and help individuals access appropriate services and support networks.
  • Maintain accurate case records and professional documentation in accordance with organisational and professional standards.
  • Contribute to safeguarding, prevention, and early intervention within Adult Social Care.

About You

You will be an experienced Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer with a passion for supporting people with sight loss to achieve greater independence and improved quality of life. You will have excellent assessment, communication, and problem-solving skills and be confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will be committed to delivering strengths-based, person-centred practice and building positive relationships with service users, carers, and partner agencies.

Requirements

  • Recognised qualification in Visual Impairment Rehabilitation or an equivalent relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience working with adults with visual impairments.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, mobility training, and independent living skills.
  • Experience assessing for specialist equipment and assistive technology.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred and strengths-based practice.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation and safeguarding principles.
