Occupational Therapist – Band 6 (Part Time)
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within North East London NHS. Based at Sunflowers Court, Goodmayes, this role supports an Acute Adult Mental Health Inpatient Service, delivering specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention to adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
The successful candidate will provide both individual and group-based occupational therapy interventions, supporting service users to improve functional abilities, enhance recovery, and engage in meaningful occupations as part of their inpatient treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments for adults within an acute mental health inpatient setting.
- Deliver individual occupational therapy interventions tailored to patient needs and recovery goals.
- Plan, facilitate, and evaluate therapeutic group programmes.
- Support service users to develop functional skills, routines, and meaningful occupational engagement.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, care planning, and risk management processes.
- Monitor progress and adapt interventions to support recovery and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
- Work collaboratively with nursing, medical, psychology, and allied health professional colleagues.
- Promote recovery-focused and person-centred practice throughout all interventions.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with significant experience in acute mental health services. You will be confident delivering both one-to-one and group interventions and have a strong understanding of recovery-focused occupational therapy practice.
You will possess excellent communication and therapeutic engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary inpatient mental health team.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Significant experience within an acute mental health setting.
- Experience delivering both individual and group-based occupational therapy interventions.
- Strong group facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of recovery-focused and person-centred approaches.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary mental health team.
