Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Major Ortho Scrub Nurse to join a leading surgical team in Wimbledon, London. This is an excellent opportunity to work flexible shifts in a fast-paced theatre environment, assisting in a variety of orthopaedic procedures, including joint replacements and complex trauma surgeries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist perioperative nursing care within an orthopaedic theatre setting.
- Assist in major orthopaedic procedures, including hip and knee replacements, spinal surgery, and trauma cases.
- Ensure sterile field preparation, adherence to infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre teams to ensure smooth surgical procedures.
- Monitor and support patients pre- and post-operatively.
- Maintain and check orthopaedic surgical instruments and theatre equipment.
- Complete accurate theatre documentation and patient records.
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff within the theatre team.
Requirements:
- Registered General Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with valid registration.
- Extensive experience in orthopaedic scrub nursing, particularly in major joint replacements and trauma surgery.
- Strong knowledge of theatre procedures, equipment, and surgical techniques in orthopaedics.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team player.
