Occupational Therapist
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum position within
North East London Social Services. The role sits within a locality-based
multi-disciplinary team, supporting adults with a range of health and social care needs
through comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and intervention planning.
The Occupational Therapist will manage a caseload consisting of both standard and complex cases, typically
around four allocations per week. The role focuses on completing holistic assessments, recommending
specialist equipment and major adaptations, and supporting individuals and their carers to maintain
independence within their homes and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake occupational therapy assessments for individuals with a range of health conditions and care needs.
- Manage a mixed caseload of complex and standard occupational therapy cases.
- Assess and recommend specialist equipment and major adaptations to support independence.
- Prepare sketches, read plans, and produce detailed specifications for major works where required.
- Carry out manual handling assessments and provide safe moving and handling recommendations.
- Develop person-centred support plans and review outcomes for individuals and their carers.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate support and interventions.
- Provide guidance on the safe use of equipment and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case records in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with strong experience assessing and recommending
complex equipment and major adaptations within social care services. You will demonstrate sound clinical reasoning
and the ability to manage complex cases while maintaining a person-centred approach.
You will be confident working autonomously while collaborating effectively within a multi-disciplinary team,
managing priorities and progressing cases efficiently to support positive outcomes for individuals and their carers.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Excellent knowledge of specialist equipment, major adaptations, and manual handling assessments.
- Experience assessing for and recommending both simple and complex equipment.
- Experience preparing specifications for major adaptation works including reading plans and producing sketches.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Understanding of the legal social care framework and relevant housing legislation.
- Ability to manage, prioritise, and progress complex caseloads.
- Experience carrying out holistic occupational therapy assessments and support planning.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage workload effectively.
