Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Regaining Independence Service – North West Team at West Sussex County Council in Horsham. This locum opportunity offers the chance to deliver community-based Occupational Therapy interventions that support customers to maximise their independence, achieve personal goals and improve their quality of life.

The North West Team covers the northern and western areas of West Sussex. As part of the Council’s Reablement Service, you will work with customers in their own homes, undertaking comprehensive assessments, setting meaningful goals and delivering specialist Occupational Therapy interventions. The service is short-term, typically providing support for up to six weeks, with a focus on helping people regain independence and achieve the best possible outcomes.

This is a hybrid role with at least one day per week based in the office. You will work closely with reablement care providers and other health and social care professionals as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments within customers’ own homes and community settings.
• Work with customers to establish meaningful, person-centred goals focused on regaining independence.
• Deliver specialist Occupational Therapy interventions as part of the Council’s Reablement Service.
• Monitor customers’ progress and adapt support plans and interventions in response to changing needs and outcomes.
• Support customers to maximise their independence and achieve their personal goals.
• Apply evidence-based Occupational Therapy practice to assessment, intervention and rehabilitation.
• Work closely with the reablement care provider to coordinate effective support.
• Collaborate with health and social care professionals to deliver coordinated, outcome-focused interventions.
• Use strong assessment, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify appropriate interventions and solutions.
• Manage a varied caseload effectively while working flexibly across the community.
• Maintain effective communication and accurate records using appropriate IT systems.

About You

We are looking for a passionate Occupational Therapist who is committed to helping people regain independence and improve their quality of life. You will have strong assessment, analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply evidence-based Occupational Therapy practice within a community reablement environment.

You will be confident working independently across customers’ homes while also contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication and partnership-working skills are essential, alongside the ability to manage a varied caseload and adapt your approach to meet individual needs and goals.

Requirements

• Qualified Occupational Therapist with appropriate professional registration.
• Experience or understanding of community-based Occupational Therapy practice.
• Strong assessment, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to undertake comprehensive assessments and establish meaningful goals with customers.
• Ability to deliver and adapt Occupational Therapy interventions based on customer progress and outcomes.
• Understanding of reablement and approaches that promote independence.
• Ability to work effectively with reablement care providers and health and social care professionals.
• Strong communication and partnership-working skills.
• Excellent IT skills and confidence maintaining appropriate records.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work flexibly across the community.

Contract & Salary

• Contract Length: Ongoing, with an initial 6-month requirement

• Working Arrangement: Hybrid – at least 1 day per week in the office
