Job Overview

 

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Regaining Independence Service (RIS) – South East Team at West Sussex County Council. This is a six-month locum opportunity supporting customers across the south and east areas of West Sussex.

 

As part of the Council’s Reablement Service, you will use your professional skills and expertise to help customers maximise their independence, achieve meaningful personal goals and improve their quality of life. The service provides short-term, community-based Occupational Therapy intervention, typically supporting people for up to six weeks.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments with customers in their own homes.
  • Work collaboratively with customers to establish meaningful, person-centred goals.
  • Deliver specialist Occupational Therapy interventions designed to maximise independence and support successful reablement.
  • Monitor customer progress and review and adapt support plans in response to changing needs.
  • Apply evidence-based Occupational Therapy practice to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Use strong assessment, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify appropriate interventions and solutions.
  • Work closely with the reablement care provider to ensure coordinated and effective support.
  • Collaborate with health and social care professionals as part of a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Manage a varied caseload effectively and prioritise work according to customer need.
  • Maintain accurate records and use IT systems effectively in line with professional and service requirements.
  • Work flexibly across the community and travel throughout West Sussex to undertake customer visits.

 

About You

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist who is passionate about helping people regain independence and achieve their personal goals. You will be confident undertaking assessments and delivering Occupational Therapy interventions within people’s own homes.

 

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong clinical reasoning and the ability to work effectively with customers, families, care providers and multidisciplinary professionals. You will also be comfortable managing a varied caseload and working flexibly across a community-based service.

 

Requirements

 

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist with relevant professional registration.
  • Experience undertaking Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions.
  • Experience or understanding of reablement, rehabilitation or community-based Occupational Therapy is desirable.
  • Strong assessment, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish meaningful goals and develop person-centred intervention plans.
  • Ability to apply evidence-based Occupational Therapy practice.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong IT and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and work flexibly across the community.
  • Commitment to promoting independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
  • Ability to travel across West Sussex for customer visits.

  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 09:00–17:00
  • Working Arrangement: Hybrid, with at least one day per week in the office
  • Community Travel: Required across West Sussex for customer visits
