Occupational Therapist

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within South East Social Services. Based with Oxfordshire County Council, covering Didcot and the wider South Oxfordshire area, this role forms part of the council’s innovative Delivering the Future Together transformation programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking Adult Social Care service that is pioneering new approaches to supporting people to remain fit, healthy, independent, and connected to their communities for as long as possible. Working within a strengths-based framework and alongside NHS partners, care providers, and community organisations, you will empower individuals to identify and achieve their own goals and outcomes through personalised Occupational Therapy interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake strengths-based Occupational Therapy assessments for adults with a range of physical, functional, and social care needs.
  • Develop personalised, outcome-focused solutions that promote independence, wellbeing, and community engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and partner agencies to identify goals and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Support people to remain living safely and independently within their own homes and communities.
  • Assess for and recommend equipment, adaptations, assistive technology, and other support solutions where appropriate.
  • Contribute to preventative and early intervention approaches that reduce reliance on long-term services.
  • Work closely with NHS colleagues, care providers, voluntary organisations, and community groups.
  • Manage a varied caseload effectively while maintaining high standards of professional practice.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with legislative, organisational, and HCPC requirements.
  • Contribute to service development and transformation initiatives within Adult Social Care.

About You

You will be a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about strengths-based practice and supporting people to live independent and fulfilling lives.

You will enjoy working autonomously while being part of a supportive and collaborative team. You will be confident developing creative, person-centred solutions and building effective relationships across health, social care, and community services.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working within Adult Social Care, community services, or a related setting.
  • Strong understanding of strengths-based and person-centred practice.
  • Experience undertaking Occupational Therapy assessments and developing outcome-focused interventions.
  • Knowledge of equipment provision, adaptations, assistive technology, and community resources.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.

Contract & Salary

  • Role: Occupational Therapist
  • Sector: South East Social Services
  • Contract Type: Locum
  • Contract Length: Ongoing
  • Salary: £38 per hour Umbrella
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 09:00 – 17:00, Friday 09:00 – 16:30
  • Location: Didcot and South Oxfordshire area
  • Hybrid Working: Majority home-based and community visits, with a minimum of one office day per week
