Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity with Oxfordshire County Council, based in Didcot and covering the South Oxfordshire area. Working within South East Social Services, you will join the Delivering the Future Together transformation programme, working collaboratively with health, social care, care providers, and community organisations to support people to live independently and achieve positive outcomes.

The team works closely with the NHS, care providers, and community groups to maximise the collective strengths of local partners around a shared vision. This is a predominantly community and home-based role, with the majority of your time working from home or undertaking community visits, alongside a minimum of one office-based day per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to individuals across the South Oxfordshire area.
  • Undertake community visits to assess people’s functional needs and identify appropriate Occupational Therapy solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals to understand their strengths, needs, goals, and desired outcomes.
  • Support individuals to shape their own lives and maximise their independence and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with NHS colleagues, care providers, community groups, and other partner organisations to deliver coordinated support.
  • Contribute to integrated ways of working across health, social care, and community services.
  • Apply Occupational Therapy knowledge and professional expertise to develop appropriate interventions and support solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with professional and service requirements.
  • Manage workload effectively across home working, community visits, and office-based responsibilities.
  • Contribute positively to the Delivering the Future Together transformation programme and its shared vision for service delivery.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist who is confident working autonomously across community settings and managing your own workload. You will have a person-centred approach and be committed to helping individuals maximise their independence and achieve meaningful outcomes.

You will also be a strong collaborative practitioner who can work effectively with NHS colleagues, care providers, community organisations, individuals, and other partners within an integrated service environment.

Requirements

  • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
  • Current professional registration appropriate to Occupational Therapy practice.
  • Experience working within community-based Occupational Therapy or Adult Social Care is desirable.
  • Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to undertake community visits across South Oxfordshire.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied workload.
  • Commitment to person-centred, strengths-based practice.
  • Ability to work effectively across health, social care, care provider, and community settings.
