Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Physiotherapist for a locum opportunity within a high-end elderly care home in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity to work as the sole Physiotherapist, providing specialist rehabilitation and mobility support to elderly residents in a premium residential care environment.

You will independently manage a varied caseload, delivering tailored assessment and treatment programmes that promote independence, improve mobility, reduce falls risk, and enhance residents’ overall quality of life. The role offers flexibility, with the option to complete clinical documentation remotely where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an independent caseload of elderly residents within a high-quality care home setting.
• Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments to identify mobility, strength, balance, and rehabilitation needs.
• Develop and implement personalised rehabilitation and exercise programmes.
• Provide physiotherapy following orthopaedic surgery, injury, illness, and age-related conditions.
• Promote safe mobility, independence, and falls prevention for residents.
• Assess, prescribe, and review mobility aids and rehabilitation equipment where appropriate.
• Work closely with nursing and care staff to provide guidance on safe mobility and manual handling techniques.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and treatment plans, with the flexibility to complete case notes from home where required.
• Deliver approximately eight resident appointments per day, with 30-minute treatment sessions.
• Provide a high standard of person-centred physiotherapy that supports residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.

About You

You will be a HCPC-registered Physiotherapist with extensive experience working with older adults and orthopaedic rehabilitation. You will be confident working independently as the sole Physiotherapist, managing your own workload while maintaining excellent clinical standards.

You will possess strong assessment, rehabilitation, and communication skills, together with a compassionate, proactive approach to supporting elderly residents to achieve the highest possible level of independence.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Extensive experience working with elderly patients.
• Strong orthopaedic rehabilitation experience.
• Ability to work independently as the sole Physiotherapist.
• Excellent assessment, treatment planning, and clinical reasoning skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy.

Contract & Salary

• Role: Physiotherapist
• Sector: Hertfordshire Private Healthcare
• Contract Type: Locum
• Contract Length: Ongoing
• Salary: Negotiable
• Working Pattern: Part-time (3 days per week) until September, then Full-time thereafter.
• Location: Harpenden, Hertfordshire
• Patient Caseload: Approximately 8 residents per day (30-minute appointments).
• Additional Flexibility: Clinical notes may be completed from home where appropriate.
