Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for a Liaison Mental Health Nurse to work a variety of block bookings in Cambridgeshire
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for patients presenting in acute hospital settings, including emergency departments and inpatient wards, identifying both mental and physical health needs.
- Provide specialist advice and interventions to medical staff regarding the management of patients with mental health conditions, ensuring appropriate mental health care is integrated into overall treatment plans.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary liaison team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and general hospital staff, to develop and implement care plans for patients with complex mental health and physical health needs.
- Liaise between general hospital services and mental health teams, ensuring smooth communication and coordination of care, including facilitating referrals to community mental health teams or inpatient mental health services.
- Undertake risk assessments and crisis management, addressing immediate risks related to self-harm, suicide, or aggression, and providing de-escalation and short-term interventions where necessary.
- Lead the response to mental health crises in the acute hospital setting, taking charge in coordinating care and ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate mental health interventions.
- Provide supervision and support to junior staff and students, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained, and professional development opportunities are provided.
- Support adherence to the Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act (2005), ensuring that patients’ rights are upheld during hospital admission and discharge.
- Promote mental health awareness and training for general hospital staff, enhancing their understanding and capability in managing patients with mental health conditions in physical health settings.
Position Details:
Work Pattern: 12 hours shifts, 7 days a week, Days & Nights
Duration: Initially 3 months likely to be extended further
Umbrella Rate: Weekday £25.66 Saturday/Nights £31.57 Sundays/BH £38.55
Pay Type: Umbrella or PAYE available
