Tripod Partners are recruiting an Advanced Occupational Therapist – Band 7 for a locum role within West Midlands NHS. This position focuses on delivering advanced occupational therapy practice within acute mental health and community settings, supporting individuals with complex needs through assessment, intervention, and rehabilitation.
The role involves working as a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to clinical decision-making, risk assessment, and service development. The post holder will also support staff supervision and ensure high standards of patient-centred care within structured therapeutic environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced occupational therapy assessments and interventions within mental health settings.
- Manage complex caseloads and apply strong clinical reasoning in assessment and treatment planning.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions, including formulation and risk management.
- Support and supervise junior staff and contribute to team development.
- Maintain safe, structured, and therapeutic environments for service users.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives, audits, and identifying gaps in care.
- Work collaboratively with external and third-sector organisations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical governance and Trust policies.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in
acute mental health and community services. You will demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning
skills and confidence managing complex and sensitive situations.
You will be comfortable working as a senior clinician within a multidisciplinary team, supporting both
clinical delivery and service development while maintaining a focus on patient-centred care.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Extensive experience within acute mental health and community settings.
- Ability to deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
- Strong experience in risk assessment and risk management.
- Experience supervising staff and supporting team development.
- Ability to contribute to audits, service improvement, and clinical governance.
- Strong organisational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport.
