Job details: Investigating Manager required for 3 months with the potential of extension.
The Adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) receive and review all referrals relating to adult safeguarding across Wiltshire. The team triages and manages all referrals, assessing risk and liaising with the adult to ascertain what outcomes they want to achieve in line with the Wiltshire Safeguarding Adult Board (WSAB) Policy and Procedures.
The team support people who are at risk of or have experienced harm and have care and support needs. This may be because of a physical disability, mental health condition, learning disability, substance misuse or a dementia diagnosis.
The Adult MASH have representation from various agencies, and this aids a robust triage and investigation process. Imbedded within the MASH are Investigating Managers, specialist Police colleagues, a Specialist Nurse Practitioner as well as Information Officers and Minute Takers. Each role is essential to ensure there is a comprehensive response to all concerns which are referred, and that the person remains central to any investigations.
- To operate as an Advanced Social Work Professional / Advanced Occupational Therapist Professional taking the investigating manager role in Adult Protection.
- The role involves complex work with regard to the Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act interface.
- Providing a consultative role based on developing skill, experience and expertise within Wiltshire.
- To use advanced expertise and knowledge to triage referrals, establish thresholds on which to base action plans and to take the overall management of investigations.
- To be proactive in the development and implementation of Safeguarding Adults at Risk and Making Safeguarding Personal.
- To play a part in service development and lead on efficient and effective delivery of practice standards and service quality.
Skills/experience: experienced Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with at least three years’ adult care and safeguarding experience, extensive casework expertise, strong knowledge of social care legislation and dementia support, a solid CPD record, and the ability to work autonomously under pressure.
50% of their admin time is completed in the office, the remaining time can be split between working from home and community visits. For example, if someone spent three days out on visits, they would then complete one day in the office and one day working from home. Working hours: 37 hours per week.
