Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 5 Occupational Therapist for a locum role within West Midlands NHS. This position focuses on delivering occupational therapy assessments and interventions within acute mental health and community settings.

The Occupational Therapist will support individuals experiencing a range of mental health needs, providing structured, patient-centred interventions that promote recovery, independence, and wellbeing. The role involves working within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to safe therapeutic environments, and supporting service development.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions within mental health settings.
• Manage a caseload, delivering person-centred therapeutic interventions.
• Apply strong clinical judgement in complex and crisis situations.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and with external/third-sector partners.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives, audits, and outcome measurement.
• Support and supervise students or junior staff where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Promote safe, structured, and therapeutic environments for service users.

About You

You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience or interest in mental health 
services. You will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to work effectively in 
complex and sometimes high-pressure environments.

You will be organised, adaptable, and confident working within multidisciplinary teams, supporting 
individuals through recovery-focused interventions.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience or interest in acute mental health or community settings.
• Ability to manage a caseload and deliver therapeutic interventions.
• Strong communication, organisation, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle desirable.
