Occupational Therapist – Band 6 (Part Time)

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a part-time locum opportunity within Berkshire NHS. Based at Wokingham Community Hospital, part of Berkshire Healthcare NHS Trust, this community-based role focuses on delivering specialist neurological rehabilitation to adults within their own homes and community settings.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with strong NHS and neurological rehabilitation experience who enjoys autonomous community working. You will provide specialist assessments, develop personalised rehabilitation programmes, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to maximise independence and improve outcomes for people living with neurological conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for adults with neurological conditions within the community.
• Manage a varied caseload, delivering evidence-based rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual needs.
• Undertake comprehensive functional, cognitive, and environmental assessments.
• Develop person-centred treatment plans that promote independence, recovery, and participation in daily activities.
• Provide advice and education to patients, carers, and families to support long-term self-management.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, community services, and healthcare professionals.
• Travel daily to patients’ homes to deliver high-quality community rehabilitation services.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.
• Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred community neurological rehabilitation services.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in neurological rehabilitation and community practice. You will be confident working independently, managing your own caseload, and delivering specialist interventions that help people maximise their independence within their own homes.

Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and organisational skills are essential, together with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Previous NHS Occupational Therapy experience (essential).
• Significant neurological rehabilitation experience (essential).
• Experience working within a community rehabilitation setting.
• Excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, and rehabilitation planning skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working abilities.
