Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist for a locum opportunity within a specialist Wheelchair Service in North London. Based with Ross Care – Barnet, this role requires a clinician with substantial wheelchair service experience who can quickly integrate into the team and manage a specialist caseload from day one.

The successful candidate will provide expert assessment, prescription, review, and management of wheelchair and seating solutions for individuals with complex mobility, postural, and functional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist with proven wheelchair service experience looking to work within a specialist service delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake specialist wheelchair and seating assessments for service users with a range of complex needs.
  • Assess mobility, posture, pressure care, and functional requirements.
  • Prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs in line with assessed clinical needs.
  • Recommend specialist seating systems, postural support solutions, and associated equipment.
  • Review and monitor equipment provision to ensure ongoing suitability and effectiveness.
  • Provide education, advice, and support to service users, carers, and support staff.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, engineers, suppliers, and carers.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in accordance with professional standards.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, efficient, and person-centred wheelchair service.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with a strong background in
Wheelchair Services. You will be confident undertaking complex wheelchair assessments and independently prescribing appropriate mobility and seating solutions.

This role requires a clinician who can “hit the ground running”, work autonomously, and manage a specialist caseload with minimal supervision from the outset.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Essential experience working within a Wheelchair Service.
  • Experience prescribing manual and powered wheelchairs.
  • Knowledge of specialist seating, postural management, and pressure care.
  • Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a specialist caseload.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team working abilities.
  • Ability to quickly integrate into an established service and deliver from day one.

Contract & Salary

  • Role: Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist – Wheelchair Services
  • Sector: North London Private Healthcare
  • Contract Type: Locum
  • Contract Length: 4 months initially
  • Working Pattern: 5 days per week (4 days considered)
  • Salary: £45 per hour
