Senior Occupational Therapist

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist for a locum role within South East London Social Services. This position sits within a Housing Adaptations Team, supporting residents across private and social housing to live safely and independently through targeted occupational therapy interventions.

The role focuses on delivering high-quality assessments and intervention plans that promote independence, reduce long-term social care needs, and support individuals with complex medical and disability-related requirements. The post holder will play a key role in the effective use of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and adaptation funding, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately and in line with statutory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake complex occupational therapy assessments relating to housing adaptations and rehousing needs.
  • Develop and implement person-centred intervention plans that promote safe and independent living.
  • Ensure the effective and proportionate use of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and other adaptation funding.
  • Prioritise cases based on risk, need, and statutory responsibilities.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across housing, health, and social care services.
  • Provide professional guidance and support within the Housing Adaptations Team.
  • Support compliance with statutory duties under the Equality Act 2010 and Care Act 2014.
  • Refer clients to rehousing services where adaptations are not feasible.
  • Carry out void assessments to evaluate property suitability for adaptations and accessibility needs.

About You

You will be an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist with a strong background in housing
adaptations and supporting individuals with complex needs within social care services. You will demonstrate
strong clinical reasoning and the ability to manage complex assessments while ensuring fair and effective
allocation of resources.

You will be confident working with a range of stakeholders, including housing teams and partner agencies,
and able to provide professional guidance within a multidisciplinary environment.

Requirements

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience undertaking complex assessments related to housing adaptations.
  • Knowledge and experience of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and adaptation funding processes.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014 and Equality Act 2010.
  • Experience working collaboratively with housing, health, and social care services.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and case management skills.
