Physiotherapist – Band 6
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust at St Richard’s Hospital, within the Sussex NHS. This locum role focuses on acute respiratory physiotherapy across medical and surgical wards, with opportunities to provide high dependency cover depending on experience.
You’ll be working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering evidence-based physiotherapy to patients with a wide range of acute respiratory and post-operative conditions.
Key Responsibilities
– Deliver specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients with acute respiratory and post-surgical needs.
– Manage patients requiring high dependency physiotherapy interventions, such as airway clearance, non-invasive ventilation, and mobility restoration.
– Support early mobilisation and rehabilitation to optimise recovery and prevent complications.
– Work collaboratively with consultants, nurses, and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.
– Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to support discharge planning and patient flow.
– Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NHS and HCPC standards.
– Contribute to audit, service development, and clinical education within the department.
About You
You’ll be a proactive and clinically confident Physiotherapist with strong experience in acute hospital settings, ideally within respiratory care. You’ll demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning, teamwork, and communication skills, along with the ability to adapt to the fast-paced demands of an acute NHS hospital.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled clinician who enjoys working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
Requirements
– Degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy
– Current HCPC registration
– Recent NHS experience in acute respiratory and/or medical settings (essential)
– Experience working in high dependency or critical care settings (desirable)
– Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
– Ability to manage complex and varied caseloads independently
Contract & Salary
– Contract type: Locum
– Contract length: Ongoing
– Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30
– Location: University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust – St Richard’s Hospital (Sussex NHS)
– Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience
