Introduction:
The London Borough of Newham is seeking passionate and resilient Child Protection Social Workers to join our Safeguarding teams. In a borough as vibrant and diverse as ours, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on children’s lives. You will work with children and families where significant risk of harm has been identified, ensuring timely and effective interventions that safeguard and promote long-term wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake statutory assessments and child protection investigations, including Section 47 enquiries.

  • Develop and implement robust child protection and care plans, ensuring the voice of the child is central to your work.

  • Prepare high-quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, Reviews, and Court proceedings.

  • Collaborate effectively with families and multi-agency partners, including education, health, and police, to manage risk and deliver coordinated support.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England

  • Experience in frontline statutory child protection work

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children

  • Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills
