View JobSurrey County Council is seeking a highly experienced and autonomous Locum Social Worker to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT). This role operates outside of standard office hours, responding to urgent situations involving vulnerable children, adults, and families. The EDT provides crisis intervention, safeguarding, and decision-making support when daytime teams are unavailable.
Key Responsibilities:

Respond to emergency safeguarding referrals involving children and adults at risk
-
Conduct urgent Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act interventions, including emergency placements or protective measures
-
Undertake initial risk assessments and take decisive action in high-pressure situations
-
Liaise with police, health services, foster carers, and other agencies to manage immediate risk
-
Record decisions, actions, and outcomes clearly and concisely, ensuring appropriate handover to day teams
Essential Requirements:
-
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
-
Strong knowledge of child and adult safeguarding legislation and crisis risk management
-
Ability to work independently, with sound judgment and excellent communication skills
-
Experience handling complex situations with minimal supervision
