View Jobambeth Council’s Emergency Duty Team (EDT) provides critical out-of-hours social work support to both children and adults during evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays. We are seeking a resilient and experienced Social Worker to join this high-pressure, fast-paced team. The role demands excellent decision-making, crisis management skills, and the ability to work autonomously to safeguard vulnerable individuals when daytime services are unavailable.
Key Responsibilities:

Respond to urgent safeguarding concerns: Undertake crisis interventions for children and adults at risk, including Section 47 (Children Act) and Section 42 (Care Act) enquiries.

Make sound, independent decisions: Assess risk and safety promptly, taking necessary protective actions and coordinating emergency responses with police, health, and housing.

Maintain accurate records: Complete timely documentation and handovers to day teams to ensure continuity of care and follow-up.

Work across service areas: Provide emergency cover for a range of social care needs, including mental health crises, child protection, adult safeguarding, and homelessness support.
