Brief Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist to join the Frailty Team at Walsall Council, based at the Stan Ball Centre in Bloxwich.
This locum role forms part of an exciting Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment Clinic (Pilot), supporting older adults with mobility, balance, and falls-related issues. The role combines clinic-based assessments and home follow-ups, helping patients maintain independence and improve quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for frail and elderly patients, focusing on mobility, balance, and falls prevention.
- Assess up to four patients per clinic session, developing tailored treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Carry out follow-up visits in patients’ homes to review progress and adjust care plans as needed.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) Clinic, promoting patient-centred care and recovery.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary Frailty Team to provide holistic, joined-up care.
- Monitor patient outcomes, providing evidence-based recommendations for ongoing care or discharge.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC and local authority standards.
- Promote independence, safety, and wellbeing through physiotherapy-led interventions and advice.
- Participate in service evaluation and feedback to support the success of the CGA pilot project.
About You
You are a compassionate and confident Physiotherapist with a background in working with older adults and managing falls and frailty cases. You bring excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills, along with the ability to work autonomously in both clinic and community settings. You value person-centred care and have a passion for helping people remain active, mobile, and independent.
Requirements
- Qualified Physiotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Previous experience in frailty, community rehabilitation, or falls prevention services.
- Excellent clinical assessment, planning, and intervention skills.
- Strong understanding of mobility, balance, and functional rehabilitation for older adults.
- Ability to manage a clinic caseload and deliver home follow-up visits independently.
- Car driver essential due to the need to complete home visits across the Walsall area.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
Contract & Salary
- Job Type: Locum
- Location: Walsall Council – Stan Ball Centre, Bloxwich, Walsall
- Area: West Midlands Social Services
- Contract Length: Ongoing (initial 10 weeks)
- Salary: £31 per hour
- Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30
