Job Overview
We are recruiting a dedicated **Senior Social Worker (Qualified Social Worker)** to join **East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Children’s Services team**. In this role, you will provide expert social work practice to safeguard children, support families, and promote positive outcomes. You will take on complex cases, offer professional guidance to colleagues, and work collaboratively across agencies to deliver high-quality, child-centred social care.

Key Responsibilities
– Undertake complex child protection and safeguarding assessments in line with statutory frameworks. – Develop, implement, and review care plans that place the child’s voice and best interests at the centre. – Chair multi-agency meetings, strategy discussions, and case reviews to coordinate effective support. – Provide mentoring, guidance, and professional advice to less experienced social workers and support staff. – Prepare high-quality reports for courts, panels, and statutory reviews, presenting evidence clearly and effectively. – Escalate concerns, challenge decisions where appropriate, and ensure services meet legislative and policy requirements. – Maintain accurate and confidential case records, ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards. – Contribute to service improvement, audits, and reflective practice within the Children’s Services team.
About You
You are a skilled and resilient social worker with significant post-qualification experience in children’s services. You thrive when managing complex cases and are confident making evidence-based decisions under pressure. Your ability to build trust with children, families, and partner agencies enables you to achieve positive outcomes even in challenging circumstances.
Requirements
– Qualified Social Worker (QSW) status with registration to **Social Work England**. – Substantial experience working in statutory children’s social care, including child protection and court work. – In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding procedures. – Strong report writing, analytical, and assessment skills. – Ability to mentor and support colleagues, promoting reflective and best practice. – Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
