Job Overview

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Oncology service at Southmead Hospital on a part-time locum basis.

The successful candidate will provide physiotherapy to outpatient oncology patients before and after treatment, supporting patients throughout their cancer treatment and recovery. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist with a background in oncology to join a specialist clinical team on a temporary basis, covering sickness.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality physiotherapy assessment and treatment to outpatient oncology patients.

• Assess patients pre- and post-treatment, identifying physical, functional and rehabilitation needs.

• Develop and deliver individualised treatment and rehabilitation programmes.

• Monitor patients’ progress and adapt interventions according to clinical presentation and treatment pathway.

• Provide advice and education to patients to support recovery, function and independence.

• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary oncology team.

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records.

• Manage a clinical caseload effectively, prioritising patients according to clinical need.

• Apply appropriate clinical reasoning and evidence-based physiotherapy practice.

• Work within professional standards, Trust policies and relevant clinical guidelines.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy.

• Current HCPC registration.

• Previous Band 6 Physiotherapy experience.

• Specific experience treating outpatient oncology patients.

• Experience working with patients pre- and post-oncology treatment.

• Strong clinical assessment and reasoning skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.

• Experience managing a varied clinical caseload.

• Commitment to delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care.

This is an 8-week locum opportunity to cover sickness, with an ongoing contract arrangement stated, for an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist with specialist oncology outpatient experience.
