Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Sutton Children’s Services**. This leadership role focuses on managing and supervising a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding cases, and ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality services for children, young people, and families.
As a Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership, supervision, and guidance to your team, while also contributing to service planning, performance management, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and direction to a team of social workers.
Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring statutory compliance and positive outcomes.
Support the professional development of staff through reflective supervision, mentoring, and coaching.
Ensure statutory assessments, care planning, and reviews are delivered to a high standard and within required timescales.
Monitor team performance and practice standards, contributing to audits, inspections, and quality assurance.
Work collaboratively with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to ensure effective multi-agency support.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.
Contribute to service planning, policy development, and innovation within Children’s Services.
About You
You are a confident and experienced leader with strong post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are skilled in supervising social workers, managing complex safeguarding cases, and embedding reflective, child-centred practice within a team environment.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.
Proven supervisory or management experience in a social work setting.
Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire social workers.
