Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Lambeth Children’s Services**. This role focuses on leading and supervising a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding work, and ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality support for children and families.
As a Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership, supervision, and guidance to your team while driving service improvement and ensuring statutory duties are delivered to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and supervision to a team of social workers.
Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring statutory compliance and effective interventions.
Support the professional development of staff through reflective supervision, coaching, and mentoring.
Ensure assessments, care planning, and reviews are delivered to a high standard and within statutory timescales.
Monitor team performance, practice standards, and contribute to quality assurance and service audits.
Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary sector partners to promote effective multi-agency support.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.
Contribute to service planning, policy development, and continuous improvement in children’s social care.
About You
You are an experienced leader with strong post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in supervising social workers, managing complex safeguarding cases, and driving high-quality, child-centred practice.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.
Proven supervisory or management experience in social work.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire social workers.
