Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **Southwark Council Children’s Services team**. This leadership role focuses on managing and supervising a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding work, and ensuring that children and families receive safe, effective, and high-quality services.
As a Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership, supervision, and oversight to your team while supporting service improvement and ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and direction to a team of social workers.
Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring statutory compliance and positive outcomes.
Support the professional development of staff through reflective supervision, mentoring, and coaching.
Ensure assessments, care planning, and reviews are delivered to high standards and within statutory timescales.
Monitor team performance and contribute to service audits, quality assurance, and inspection readiness.
Work collaboratively with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to promote effective multi-agency support.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.
Contribute to service planning, policy development, and continuous improvement within Children’s Services.
About You
You are an experienced and motivated leader with strong post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in supervising social workers, managing complex safeguarding cases, and driving high-quality, child-centred practice.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.
Proven supervisory or management experience in a social work setting.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire social workers.
