Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Havering Children’s Services team**. This leadership role is focused on supervising and supporting a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding work, and ensuring children and families receive safe, effective, and high-quality support.
As a Team Manager, you will provide supervision, guidance, and professional oversight, ensuring statutory requirements are met and promoting a culture of reflective practice and continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and supervision to a team of social workers.
Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring statutory compliance and effective outcomes.
Support staff development through reflective supervision, coaching, and mentoring.
Ensure timely completion of statutory assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with Havering Council policies.
Monitor team performance and contribute to service audits, quality assurance, and inspection readiness.
Promote effective multi-agency working with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.
Contribute to service planning, policy development, and strategic priorities within Children’s Services.
About You
You are an experienced and motivated leader with substantial post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in supervising teams, managing complex cases, and ensuring high-quality, child-centred practice.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.
Proven supervisory or management experience in a social work setting.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire social workers.
