Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Sutton Children’s Services team**. This leadership role is focused on managing and supporting a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding work, and ensuring children and families receive safe, effective, and high-quality services.
As a Team Manager, you will provide supervision, professional leadership, and oversight to the team, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities while promoting a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and supervision to a team of social workers.
Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases to ensure statutory compliance and effective outcomes.
Support professional development through coaching, reflective supervision, and mentoring.
Ensure timely completion of assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with Sutton Council policies and statutory frameworks.
Monitor team performance, quality of practice, and contribute to service audits and quality assurance processes.
Promote collaborative, multi-agency working with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording across the team.
Contribute to service planning, policy implementation, and strategic development within Children’s Services.
About You
You are an accomplished social worker with substantial post-qualification experience in children’s services, including experience at management or supervisory level. You are confident leading teams, ensuring high-quality practice, and keeping children’s needs central to all decisions.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.
Proven supervisory or management experience in a social work setting.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory frameworks.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire social workers.
