Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Havering Children’s Services team**. This leadership role focuses on managing and supporting a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding cases, and ensuring children and families receive safe, effective, and high-quality support.
As a Team Manager, you will provide supervision, guidance, and professional oversight to your team, while working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure child-centred outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to a team of social workers.
Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.
Support and develop staff through mentoring, coaching, and reflective supervision.
Ensure assessments and care planning are carried out in line with legislation, policy, and best practice.
Prepare and review performance reports, audits, and contribute to quality assurance processes.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high professional standards.
Work in partnership with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to deliver integrated support.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with statutory frameworks and Havering Council policies.
Contribute to service development, policy implementation, and strategic planning within Children’s Services.
About You
You are a confident and experienced leader with strong post-qualification experience in children’s social work. You can manage and inspire a team, deliver high-quality outcomes, and keep children at the centre of all decisions.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Substantial post-qualification experience within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and complex case management.
Proven experience in a supervisory or management role.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to mentor, coach, and develop social workers.
