Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker)** to join the **London Borough of Sutton’s Children’s Services team**. This leadership role focuses on managing and supporting a team of social workers to deliver high-quality safeguarding and support for children and families.
As a Team Manager, you will oversee complex casework, provide supervision and guidance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of services to ensure positive outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong leadership and day-to-day management for a team of children’s social workers.
Oversee safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring statutory compliance and high standards of practice.
Allocate, monitor, and review caseloads to maintain effective workload balance.
Deliver reflective supervision, professional guidance, and ongoing support to staff.
Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Ensure all assessments, care plans, and interventions are timely, accurate, and child-focused.
Prepare and present evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including schools, health, police, and voluntary organisations, to provide joined-up services.
Contribute to quality assurance, audits, and service development initiatives.
About You
You are a confident and resilient leader with significant experience in children’s services. You are skilled at managing staff, supporting safeguarding practice, and ensuring children remain at the heart of all decisions.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
Proven management or supervisory experience in a statutory social work environment.
Excellent knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to balance staff management with oversight of complex casework.
