Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker)** to join **East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Children’s Services team**. This leadership role is responsible for managing a team of social workers and support staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality safeguarding and family support services.
As Team Manager, you will provide professional supervision, oversee complex casework, and lead service improvement to achieve positive outcomes for children and families across the local authority.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and management to a team of social workers and support staff.
Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Allocate, monitor, and review caseloads to ensure effective workload management across the team.
Deliver professional supervision, mentoring, and reflective practice sessions to staff.
Support staff development through coaching, training, and performance management.
Ensure assessments, care plans, and interventions are of a consistently high standard.
Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for court, child protection conferences, and statutory reviews.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, police, and voluntary organisations.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement through audits, quality assurance, and service development initiatives.
About You
You are a motivated and confident leader with extensive post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are skilled at managing staff, overseeing safeguarding practice, and driving service improvements while keeping children and families at the centre of your work.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Significant post-qualification experience within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
Proven management or supervisory experience within a statutory social work setting.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with oversight of complex casework.
