Luton Borough Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic Locum Team Manager to lead their Child Protection (CP) team. This leadership role involves managing a busy frontline team dedicated to safeguarding children at risk and ensuring statutory compliance with child protection procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide operational and strategic leadership to the Child Protection team
Manage and supervise social workers carrying caseloads of children subject to CP plans
Ensure timely, high-quality assessments, care planning, and intervention delivery
Oversee compliance with child protection legislation, policies, and best practice standards
Support staff through supervision, performance management, and professional development
Liaise with partner agencies, courts, and other stakeholders to coordinate safeguarding work
Requirements:
SWE registration
Proven experience in a management role within child protection services
Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and public law
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
