Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist – Band 6

Job details:

Speech and Language Therapist required to start ASAP to support the acute service. This role sits within the acute medical SLT team and involves responding to adult referrals across a range of medical and surgical wards.

•  
  • Provide Speech and Language Therapy input to acute adult inpatients across medical and surgical wards
     

  • Independently manage a dysphagia caseload, including assessments and recommendations
     

  • Respond to a smaller number of communication referrals as required
     

  • Work as part of the acute medical SLT team, with clinical oversight from a Band 7 SLT and the Deputy Head of SLT on site
     

  • Work does not routinely include stroke referrals, as these are managed by a separate stroke team
     

  • Contribute to agreed job planning tailored to individual availability and service needs

   

  Skills and experience required:

   

  •  
    • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration
       

    • Band 6 level experience
       

    • Independent dysphagia competency is essential
       

    • Experience working within an acute hospital setting
       

    • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team

     

    Working hours:

     

    •  
      • Full time preferred, Monday to Friday
         

      • Flexible working considered – part time hours welcomed
         

      • May consider more than one part-time candidate to cover up to full-time hours combined
