An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join an acute hospital service at West London University Hospital. This role is primarily based on the acute wards, with some cross-cover to the stroke unit as required. The post holder will deliver high-quality dysphagia assessment and rehabilitation, alongside some communication input, working autonomously within a busy acute caseload.
Key Responsibilities
About You
You will be a confident and experienced Speech and Language Therapist, competent in managing dysphagia within an acute hospital setting. You will be comfortable working independently, prioritising a varied caseload, and contributing positively to multidisciplinary working.
Requirements
- Provide specialist dysphagia assessment and management for adult inpatients.
- Deliver rehabilitation programmes to support safe swallowing and nutritional intake.
- Provide communication assessment and intervention where required.
- Work autonomously across acute wards, with occasional cross-cover to the stroke unit.
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to support patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with NHS and professional standards.

Desirable Skills
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Dysphagia competency and ability to manage an acute caseload autonomously.
- Experience working on acute hospital wards.
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
