About the Role

 

We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the adult community service within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. This role involves assessing, treating and supporting adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties across a range of settings, including patients’ homes, clinics and care homes, with some remote working possible.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist assessment and intervention for adults with acquired swallowing and communication disorders.
  • Manage a varied caseload, including patients with Parkinson’s disease, MND, MS, respiratory conditions, dementia and post-stroke presentations.
  • Support individuals with voice difficulties through tailored therapeutic programmes.
  • Travel across the community to deliver therapy in homes, clinics and care homes, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues, carers and other professionals involved in patient care.
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical documentation in line with HCPC and Trust standards.
  • Contribute to service development and uphold best practice in adult SLT provision.

 

Requirements

 

  • HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Substantial post-qualification experience within adult SLT services.
  • Clinical expertise in dysphagia and acquired communication disorders.
  • Experience working with a wide range of conditions including neurodegenerative, respiratory and cognitive disorders.
  • Car driver with access to own vehicle, essential for community visits.
  • Strong communication, organisational and MDT collaboration skills.

 

Working Hours

 

  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00.
  • Some remote working possible on certain days.
